In August (2016), Facebook added a new feature to Instagram called ‘Instagram stories’. This feature is similar to snapchat stories. On 10/03/2017, Facebook launched Instagram stories ads for all advertisers. Such ads are vertical ads that are displayed between Instagram stories. You can develop stories ads which assist single video and single photo format on Ads manager and Power editor.
If you are interested in making ads, here are a few steps that you need to follow.
How to develop ads in Instagram stories
Campaign objective
The business manager has offered many options. You have to choose one marketing objective for your campaign. Video views, app installs, traffic, conversions, brand awareness- the list goes on.
Know your target audience
It’s very important to know your target audience. Before making the ads you should clearly know whom all you are targeting to show your ads. There are various options of segmentation that are given by the business manager. You can also choose among various targeting options such as age, location, gender, interests etc. Once the segmentation is done, you have to create a daily budget for your target group and give an awesome name to it.
Proper placement of ads
After you are done with the segmentation, you will have to choose an appropriate place for your ads. In the Instagram menu, you can easily choose the stories option. To reach there, first, you need to tap on ‘Edit placements’. Then click on expand button to check stories.
Only pay for installs or views
Now, this is interesting. Here you will have to select a type of payment for the ad which is either per app install or per impression. The choice is totally yours but I will suggest you go with per impression. You must be wondering why? Don’t worry, I have a solid reason for this. Optimization in facebook ads panel is based on CPI costs and installs. That’s why it is better to go with payments per impression.
Ad structure: Video or image
Once all fields of your campaign of facebook ads are filled, you can finally select an appropriate ad structure- Video or Image. Remember, facebook is very strict when it comes to Instagram stories. Your image should have an aspect ratio of 9:16. For video requirements, it should be 15-20 seconds long, 2.3 GB of size, 720 pixel quality with an aspect ratio of 9:16. After choosing your desired format, you just need to connect it with your Instagram account and you are ready to go.
With these 5 steps, you can easily create ads in the Instagram stories. Simple, right? So go and create your ads.
