Are you unable to finish your daily tasks on time? Don’t worry, we all go through the same thing. As soon as I get up in the morning I try to remember what all are the main things that I need to do but sadly I am not able to prioritize my first task. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? This can be the most annoying thing that you might go through early in the morning.

Americans are known as the most productive people around the globe. But anyone can become more productive by working smartly. You just need to put in more hours and communicate properly with your team members. If it was this simple then you and I  would have been discussing some other topic.

Incomplete tasks lead to a lot of stress. You don’t have to go through this everyday. If you want to master productivity, here are a few ways that can help you out.

How to be more productive?

Make a schedule

Preparation helps to increase productivity. Every night before you go to sleep, make a detailed plan of all the important tasks that you need to perform and it’s time period for the upcoming day. This helps you to be in control and motivated for the next day.

Prioritize your tasks

Made your schedule? Great! What’s next? Prioritizing your tasks of course. You need to rank which tasks you need to perform first. This will help you to stay focused on your crucial tasks.

Avoid multitasking

Handling more than one task at once can have two results. Either you perform badly in all of them or you take more amount of time in completing all of them. Be smart and avoid multitasking. By handling one task at a time you are giving your 100% to it. This will fetch you better results.

Continuously working for more than 8-9 hours a day can make you feel tired and stressed. This can easily hamper your productivity. To avoid such a situation, it’s better to take a small power nap. That 20-25 minutes of sleep will help to keep you active and will boost your alertness.

Make your own deadlines

In general, people tend to work better when they have to follow other’s deadlines. If this is the case then why not create your own deadlines? Set suitable yet important deadlines and create a structure to complete those deadlines. This will test your determination but it is an excellent process to improve productivity.

Come up with innovative ways of completing things

Every day ask yourself ‘Is there any other way of completing this task?’. Don’t be scared of making mistakes. Every mistake that you make is a lesson for you. You should learn from it. Brainstorm new ideas of completing the tasks. This will improve your productivity.

Follow 90-minute work interval

Research suggests that working straight for 90 minutes is the maximum time a human can focus on a particular task. So silent your phone and email notifications and work straight for 90 minutes. After 90 minutes is over take 15-20 minutes of break to relax and check your important notifications. Follow the same schedule again and again. This helps to boost your productivity.

Reduce your time limit

If you think a particular task will take 60 minutes to complete then give yourself 45 minutes to complete the task. I know it sounds crazy but believe me it works. By minimizing your deadlines, you perform faster and with proper focus.

Ergonomic design

Furniture that we work on has a huge impact on our productivity. If you are sitting on an uncomfortable chair or if you have less light in your room, it will hamper your productivity. So make sure you have access to comfortable furniture. I personally use Saphire chairs as it provides me great comfort.

Being productive is not easy but if you will follow these techniques sincerely then you will be able to master productivity.
